Hadhrat Umme Habibah (Radi-Allahu-Anha's) Behaviour With Her Father:

Hadhrat Ummul Mu'mineen Umme Habibah (Radi-Allahu-Anha) was previously married to Ubaidullah bin Jahsh. She emigrated with her husband to Abyssinia. Her husband turned renegade and died there as a Kafir. The Prophet ﷺ sent his offer to marry her through king Negus, while she was still passing her days in Abyssinia as a widow. She accepted the offer and came to Madinah to live with the Prophet ﷺ. During the period of truce between the Muslims and the idolaters of Makkah , her father Abu Sufyan once came to Madinah for negotiations in connection with reinforcing the truce. He went to see Umme Habibah (Radi-Allahu-Anha). As he was about to sit on the bedding in her room, she removed it from under him. He was surprised over her behaviour and said: "Was the bedding unfit for me or I unfit for the bedding?" Hadhrat Abu Bakr (Radi-Allahu-Anhu) was a cloth merchant and lived by that trade. On the day of the death of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم, people selected him as the Khalifa.  The next day with some cloth slung on his arms, he was proceeding to the market as usual when 'Umar(Radi-Allahu-Anhu) met him on the way. 'Umar (Radi-Allahu-Anhu): "Where are you going to, Abu Bakr'?" Abu Bakr (Radi-Allahu-Anhu):" To the market" 'Umar (Radi-Allahu-Anhu): "if you get busy with your trade, who will carry out the duties of the Khalifa?" Abu Bakr (Radi-Allahu-Anhu): "How am I to feed my family then?" . 'Umar (Radi-Allahu-Anhu):"let's go to Abu Ubaidah (In charge ofBait-ul-Maal), who will fix some daily allowance for you from the Bait-ul-Maal." They both went to Abu Ubaidah (Radi-Allahu-Anhu).
